The Godly Remnant.
Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider?
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,  I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Wherein has thou loved us?
Malachi.

We know varied amounts about the lives and backgrounds of the writers of the various books in the Bible, especially those in the Old Testament. For some like Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon there is a considerable amount information. However, when we come to Malachi the writer of the prophecy bearing his name, we know nothing at all!. He is mentioned by name in verse one and that is that! Nonetheless, his name means “My Messenger” and how wonderful a title that is, to be called by God to be His messenger. What an honour, what a privilege it is for us to be called as Ambassadors for Jesus Christ, may we walk worthy of the One who calls us to be His representatives in this evil world. (2 Corinthians 5.20)
This book is the final book of the Old Testament. From Malachi until the advent of John the Baptist, there were no other prophets. Malachi prophesies of the coming of John who was to prepare the way for the coming Lord, read Chapter 3.1 “Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts”.
It was a difficult time for Malachi to witness for God, the priests were evil, crooked and self centred, the people had gone away from God and were prepared to argue against God, His Law and and Commandments. We shall see it unfold, God willing, in the weeks ahead. I think we all may learn from this faithful Messenger of God.
